Hyatt Regency St. Louis and Kingdom House
Kingdom House’s mission is to help people achieve better lives. Through holistic programs and services, we help the economically disadvantaged achieve economic independence, self-sufficiency and a path out of poverty.
Hyatt Regency St. Louis has supported Kingdom House in a variety of ways over the past two years. In 2016, Hyatt employees sorted and organized donated clothing in our thrift store, cleaned toys in our Early Childhood Center and cleaned Rutger House—a home for overnight volunteer groups. In April 2017, employees volunteered in our Early Childhood Center and helped with various clean-up projects. Hyatt has also held a clothing drive for us.
The Hyatt Community Grant will fund Kingdom Academy, our multi-year program that supports low-income teens through academic enrichment; life skills and job readiness activities; and social-emotional support. The objectives are to: 1) support students as they work towards high school graduation and provide services that will assist them in preparing for post-secondary education, and 2) help students prepare for the work force through employment skills training and instruction, and valuable job readiness experiences. Kingdom Academy serves students from some of the lowest performing city schools. Unlike other programs with similar goals, students are not required to have a high GPA in order to participate.
