The Thai Elephants Research and Conservation Fund (TERF) under the General Chatichai Choonhavan Foundation is a non-profit of which the main purpose is to conserve and protect Thai elephants.  TERF’s mission consists of researching on Thai elephants, coordinating with other organization with regards to Thai elephant conservation, mediating between local farmers and wild elephants, offering assistance in regards to the health and wellbeing of Thai elephants and promoting the awareness of Thai elephants to locals, students and general public.

Over the past three and a half years, colleagues of Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok have supported the Thai Elephants Research And Conservation Fund in various aspects, ranging from providing food for elephants, planting trees and building a shelter for the mahout (elephant caretaker).

The Hyatt Community Grant will be used for food and medical expenses for elephants, utility expenses and wages for the people taking care of the center in Khao Yai.
