The Library Project & Hyatt On The Bund
The Library Project's mission is to improve children’s literacy skills in primary schools and orphanages in Asia. To achieve its goals, the organization provides rural schools with libraries, books, children’s literacy programs, and teacher trainings. By providing library infrastructure and training on maintaining and maximizing these resources, the Library Project hopes to encourage independent learning, intellectual curiosity, and passion for reading in children. The organization supports schools located in rural areas that have limited financial resources, and a majority of the children it supports live away from their family, because their parents need to travel to more affluent areas for work.
The Library Project donates local language libraries to improve children’s literacy at rural primary schools in Asia. Children gain access to a beautiful school library providing fun and interesting children’s books that spark their imaginations and promote a lifelong love of reading. Having fun educational books easily available helps to encourage independent learning, intellectual curiosity, and a lifelong passion for reading.
The team at the Hyatt on the Bund has partnered with The Library Project for the past seven years by helping to set-up rural primary school libraries in China, hosting fundraising events, and conducting awareness raising activities promoting the importance of rural children’s literacy.
The Hyatt Community Grant will be used to set-up rural primary school libraries, conduct children’s literacy programs and teacher training support in China.
