Precious Children Home and Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur
Precious Children Home (PCH) houses children ranging from 4 to 18 years old with a mission is to give hope to every child through education, shelter and compassion. Founded by Global Street Mission (GSM), a non-profit, non-governmental organisation in Malaysia, this home welcomes children from the streets and whose parents are drug addicts, alcoholics, undergoing rehabilitation program or in prison and orphans.
Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur has been supporting the residents at PCH since 2014 It started with water and large buckets donation due to the water rationing at Kuala Lumpur which affected their daily lives back in March 2014. Thereafter, Grand Hyatt colleagues have hosted birthday celebrations, baking classes for the kids, and helped beautify the home.
This Hyatt Community Grant will fund the development of the children educational and IT program which includes a one month work experience program for kids, a 12 month internship program internship for young adults and enrollment to language skills classes. The grant funds will also be put toward language courses to help the children and young adults communicate better by being able to say simple words. The students will be enrolled in language courses (focusing on foundational and basic words) and given a new computer with internet access combining Khan Academy on Youtube to assist them with mathematics, science, physics and more.
